Hospitals and nursing homes are surveyed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and accredited hospitals by The Joint Commission. Other buildings deal with their local fire marshal or code official.

New buildings need their first damper test one year after installation, then every 4 years. This is the test most often missed.

What a visit looks like
In a newer building, we start by finding out whether the first damper test has been done. If it has not, we set up that test and build the 4-year schedule from it. We also check that firestop has survived the trades who came after the builder, since new cable and data lines often go through rated walls after opening day. Every door and damper is tagged, photographed and given a pass or fail. Small fixes are done on the first visit, and the rest get a priced plan.
