Delaware buildings we work in
We serve Wilmington and New Castle County. That means hospitals, nursing homes, office towers in downtown Wilmington, and college and corporate campuses around Newark and the suburbs. Delaware has a damper law with filing deadlines and daily fines, so the paperwork matters as much as the test.
Who checks your building
The State Fire Marshal or your local fire marshal receives damper certificates and enforces the fire code. Accredited hospitals are also surveyed by The Joint Commission.
Delaware rules you should know
Damper law (16 Del. C. Chapter 66D). Dampers are tested after installation, then every 4 years (6 for hospitals).
Who may test. Testers must hold an ICB HVAC Fire Life Safety certification and work for an insured contractor, unless they are fire department staff.
Filing. Certificates go to the State or local Fire Marshal within 30 days, with a notice posted in the lobby. Late filing can cost 100 dollars a day.
For what must be tested and how to file, see our Delaware damper law guide.
What a visit looks like
We inspect every rated door to NFPA 80, tag it, photograph it and record a pass or fail. We open ceilings along rated walls to find and seal unsealed penetrations. Small door fixes are done on the first visit, and larger repairs get a priced plan. For dampers, we can help you inventory them and plan around the 4-year cycle and the 30-day filing deadline. We do not offer damper testing or damper repair in Delaware yet.
