Who checks your building
New Jersey has its own Uniform Fire Code, enforced by local fire officials. Nursing homes are surveyed by the New Jersey Department of Health, and accredited hospitals by The Joint Commission. The NJ Division of Fire Safety oversees the new damper law.
New Jersey rules you should know
Damper law. New Jersey's Fire Life Safety Damper and Smoke Control System Inspection Verification Act (P.L.2023, c.186), signed in December 2023, requires owners to inspect and test dampers and keep records.
Who may test. The law creates a new contractor class for damper work, with certification and registration requirements.
Nursing homes. Life safety surveys are run by the New Jersey Department of Health.

We do not offer damper testing or damper repair in New Jersey yet, while our damper contractor registration is pending. Today we inspect and repair fire doors and firestop in New Jersey, and we help you plan your damper testing.
What a visit looks like
We inspect every rated door to NFPA 80, tag it, photograph it and record a pass or fail. Above the ceiling, we find and photograph unsealed penetrations in rated walls and seal them with listed systems. Small door fixes are done on the first visit, and the rest get a priced plan. For dampers, we help you build an inventory and a testing schedule so you are ready when you need it.
